Batu Selungun is the local name for this majestic Elephant Rock
situated at the mouth of Selungun River about 2.5km south of
Kampung Kuala Nyalau, which is another 90km by road from Bintulu,Sarawak.
Locals call it Batu Selungun,Lungun meaning coffin in Iban,
the green growth on top of it was once shape like one
until the front part was eroded.
Access to this rock is by boat or by treking along the beach from the village.
I think this is the only Natural Arch shape like an elephant in Malaysia.
It is nice to be there at low tide as you can easily move around the rock.
A view from under the arch.
From this angle it look like a rhino.
The rivermouth of Selungun River in the background.
Helmi's pose.
Shukri,Fazillah and Helmi in front of the arch.
Look who is on top.
Our ride, a 7m long fibreglass boat belonging to Helmi's uncle.

A dead dolphin at Kuala Nyalau
We went checking on a dead dolphin(or is it a whale?)with its dorsal fin missing on a beach 1km north of Kg Kuala Nyalau rivermouth
with a kedayan fisherman from Kuala Nyalau village who actually wanted to bring it back
for some people from UNIMAS (who will be coming to investigate on the death)
but decided to do it later alone
because of the bad condition of the fish after some iguana dropped by earlier
before us for a feast.
Getting the boat out from the jetty needs some push.
Fadzillah decided not to go with us for the short trip.
Off we go heading out to sea.
Shukri never leave home without his Rayban.
And that's me, jeans all soaked wet, luckily not my camera.

A visit to Tatau riverside
Tatau is a small riverside town about 60km from Bintulu in Sarawak
and we went there because Hj Nasir wanted to see the river
after he booked his flight ticket home for a short rest,
so off we go to this place where timber related activities are the main source of employment besides agriculture.
The bridge across Tatau river.
A crane offloading logs from a barge.
Tatau river flows besides the town.
The express boat jetty of Tatau for those living up and downstream the river.
Hj Nasir by the river while enjoying some salak fruits.
The only row of shop by the riverside.
Rumah Temuai of Tatau, where folks from longhouse
put on a night when they come to town.
A belian wood merchant by the roadside selling only this specialise hardwood
mainly used as beam for house and bridges.
The old Belian Jetty ,i wonder what was it use for then?
The main chinese temple of the town.
