Genting Sanyen Power GT12 HGPI Shutdown crew

It's quite interesting when we got the chance to work on an old machine
like this John Brown Engineering FR5 Gas Turbine
which is already more than 30 years old,the mother to all the GE GT in Malaysia.
The job is a Hot Gas Path Inspection (HGPI) with 1st stage buckets(turbine blade) replacement
with crew members from TNB Remaco and Vital Equity Sdn Bhd.

A group photo of the day shift crew above
and finally got to see 3 old friends working together again.

Preparing to lift the turbine casing with the overhead crane aided by two 5 ton lorry jack.

Removing the bottom combustion cans.

The tool cabin for the job.

The old machine tag,i heard it was formerly used somewhere in Australia before being brought here.

Antique tools at work, finally got a chance to use my 30 years old tools again

This powerful 500hp, 2 stroke Detroit Diesel engine starts the turbine.

The unloading area for the GT.

Supports for the turbine casing, with 2 bolt and nut under the casing gib key.

And a mechanical jack under the CDC flange.

The turbine buckets work.

After locking the twist lock with a blunt chisel.

The Baram river snaking its way upstream.

A golf coarse just before landing in Miri.

An afternoon at Kidurong Beach

Once upon a time this scenic beach was facing the open sea
until a break water was build sometime ago
and recently reclamation works on the bay started,
soon only a small waterway will be what is left.
