Elephant Rock of Penang

The mystical Elephant Rock or 'Batu Gajah'
as the locals fondly call it is located at the foot of Bukit Dumbar,
so famous of this rock that the road running beside is named after it
but development is fast catching up here and soon it mighty
not be there any more.

Legends say that long time ago
a pious old man used to meditate on the rock daily
and when he passed away his spirits remains on the rock.
In the old days people with life problems
use to visit the place to ask for divine help
and it was said that many have their wishes granted.

Chini Lake-it's now or never

Tasik Chini, our country's only Unesco Biosphere Reserve
is in a verge of having it's ecosystem collapsing
due to logging, plantation activities, excessive iron ore mining
and even the effects of a national service camp nearby.
Who will be the ones to do something to save it?
The helpless orang asli of the Jakun tribe, nature lovers or politician,
whatever, for nature have it's limits in fighting back.

a new alien species,
a type of aquatic plant Cabomba Furcata called 'ekor kucing'
by the local aboriginals is beginning to replace the lotus.

and a sea of purple when in abundance.

22125 Telok Chempedak

This beautiful train locomotive,Telok Chempedak 22125,
made by the English Electric Co in 1971
of KTMB Class 22 was named after a famous beach  in Kuantan.
It's now on permanent display at The First Galleria,Taiping.

With a famous name like Telok Chempedak,
i thought this locomotive should have a final resting place in Kuantan
where the beach is located.
