Ancient Iron Smelters of Kedah Lama

I never knew that metallurgy
have been practice right here by the Muda River
in the interior of Kedah
some 1500 years ago with so much success
when local companies right now are struggling
to keep their modern smelters afloat.

Two piece of Clay iron furnace dug out from Kg Chemara.

The mouth of the furnace where molten iron flows out.

The former site at Kg Chemara where the old clay furnace was dug up
and sent to the Sg Batu Archeological site.

The Muda river right beside the site,
down stream is the Malacca straits
and up could bring us to Thailand
after a short land route

The still intact site at Lubuk Gading,
Jeniang,Kedah.

all lock and fenced up

Lull before the storm at TC

July views of  algae covered rocks
at Telok Chempedak beach in Kuantan
before the arrival of the year end monsoon.

From this angle the 2 rocks on the top left looks like a head of an Egyption mummy!
