With the upcoming expansion of Shell MDS plant and most probably more modules for MLNG and Murphy oil onshore facilities with the arrival of gas from Sabah,
the town is set for another boom.

A point of contempt for the Sabahan,
this Sabah Sarawak Gas Pipeline Project will take away all the job opportunity of the Sabahan
to Sarawak,hopefully they can reserve some places for them there.
It is a hard commercial decision to make presumely for economic of scale
because to build another LNG plant in Sabah will be expensive
moreover the gas is mostly from Murphy's block which Petronas only have a small share.
Let us hope as more gas is found offshore Sabah some downstream industries can be setup there.
