Sanglee Estate Garden

This special garden at Sanglee Estate on the way to Raub
displays an old landrover and a big durian replica,
the one which won the thumbnails photo for 30th November 2009.
This area is a plantation area where the villagers mostly work
in their rubber, oil palm and durian orchards,
so having a 4x4 is a must here.

This is the photo of the giant durian from Thestar thumbnails

and the new resting place for it.

Sempam Mini Hydro

Sempam Mini hydro power plant is located about 7km
from the village of Tras not far from Raub.
Build by William Bibby of the Raub Australian Gold Mining Company Limited,
construction works started in 1897 and it was commissioned on July 1900.
it is the first hydro plant and also the first power plant  in Malaya
and it is a real wonder
to have a plant build 110 years ago still intact and running smoothly.
From its initial 300bhp or about 220kw it had been upgraded to its
present 1MW(1,000KW) of electricity
and it is connected to the national grid via transmission lines.

Getting there:-
It is best to have your own transport because the Panching Hill
is about 3.5 km off the main road in a palm oil plantation.
