The Penang Bridge which was once dubbed a white elephant when is was first opened in 1985
is today the life line of the fast developing Penang island.
The bridge at 13.5km, is one of the longest in the region
but it will be overtaken by a longer 24km Penang Second Bridge
in a few years time.
Under this bridge lies the 132kv electric cables dubbed the artery of Penang
from the mainland to the island.

The cry of Sungai Gelugor Fishermen
The once tranquil life of the Gelugor fishermen are once again threatened
in the name of development, first by the Jelutong Highway and now by The Light Waterfront
a mega project which together with the second bridge project
will spearhead development in Penang to be the next Hong Kong of Asia.
Millions of Ringgit will change hands here but for these 24 fishermen
it's about their livelihood, their bread and butter,
something which they and their forefathers have been doing all their life,
so have some heart and help them carry on with their life somewhere nearby.
I bet that with proper facilites their heritage will add to the authenticity of the area.

FGS Dong Zen CNY 2011
The FGS Dong Zen at Jenjarom CNY 2011 decorations were meant for night viewing
but here are my day time shots taken during my brief stop
on my way to the Bukit Jugra light house.
A dragon shaped bonsai tree.
A year for the rabbits.
Thought provoking statues.
A message to everyone.

Sunrise at Paka Beach
The Paka beach is a nicely hidden stretch from the views of passerby
by a buffer of villages.
The place is well known among the locals but for passerby like me
it's just a drive through if not for my short stay at the beach front Man Chalet.
The beach is quite crowded in the evenings especially during the weekends.
A puppet show among the clouds.
A misty view of Kuala Paka and Bukit Bauk.
Man Chalet (tel:-0179077708) is right smack in front of the beach
so that you will never have excuse to miss the sunrise
and the strong monsoon waves too!
