The once tranquil life of the Gelugor fishermen are once again threatened
in the name of development, first by the Jelutong Highway and now by The Light Waterfront
a mega project which together with the second bridge project
will spearhead development in Penang to be the next Hong Kong of Asia.
Millions of Ringgit will change hands here but for these 24 fishermen
it's about their livelihood, their bread and butter,
something which they and their forefathers have been doing all their life,
so have some heart and help them carry on with their life somewhere nearby.
I bet that with proper facilites their heritage will add to the authenticity of the area.
small voices often ignored by the greedy people...
ReplyDeletevery nice scenery... so calm...

ReplyDeleteim was born at Gelugor, and my uncle are fishermen too.it was so sad when with the small compensation "they" try to buy others people life.
Those are extremely greedy and perhaps lost their morale compass!
Hi Thomas..itu lah harga yg perlu dibayar atas nama pembangunan...salah satu pihak terpaksa berkorban(dipaksa berkorban)
ReplyDeletesometimes we forget the plight of others..
ReplyDeleteHi there, tks for dropping by. The pictures are crisp and very postcard like. It is sad that the fishermen had to make way for development..I wonder what will happen to them..
ReplyDeletehmmm....money is everything nowdays they dont bother other people needs
ReplyDeletedi sebalik picca2 terselit keluhan-keluhan
ReplyDeletewah~ kg nelayan..cantikkkk :)
ReplyDeletehere too fishermen face the same situation...its not an easy profession nor is a job where you become mega rich...its really hard to go everyday and face the sea which is sometimes so harsh...but unfortunately we live in a selfish world where ones care about his/her own world and doesnt see beyond it
