Jerunei Burial Pole

Jerunei is a burial pole of the Melanaus,
it's used to keep the remains of their leaders in jar which could have fallen off.
It's quite similar to that used by the Punans at Pandan,Sebauh.
This one is at Lamin Dana the Melanau Homestay at Kampung Tellian,Mukah.

Notice the slots for the jar support
and there is also a wooden cover on top.

It's  also home to a small colony of bats.

  2. it is very interesting that the rotting wooden pole is becoming home to the bats. I thought they prefer somewhere darker and quieter.

  7. menakjubkan walau terbayang-kan bahwa disitu ada makam para pemimpin mereka, dan rupanya ada juga komunitas bat-man-nya :)
