This shutdown will be one that will be remembered
for a very long time to come
as it was the worse ever in the history of my duty here in MLNG,
in term of work delay blamed to
a reduced planned shutdown time plus a drastic reduction in shutdown crew
with all the multitasking deployed as though we all suddenly learned new skills overnight,
probably some genius downloaded all this skills via USB into our ancient brain
while we were asleep!
We should have left after our contract expired back in 2010
but the opposite happened when we returned as a manpower for another company,
a competitor which i am not proud to don their logo
but what can we as a lower ranking staff do.
I would say that we have tried our best but it's just not working
and i personally will have to call this my last shutdown here, with age catching up.
Through the years from 2006 when we first came here,
we have met and work with many nice and hardworking locals, mostly
Ibans and Kedayans and i truly enjoyed the time we've spent together here
until Bintulu looks more like a second home to me,
the nice and friendly staffs of GENP
will always be remembered too.
Above is our crew from the MR FR7,the man and a women of steel.
Standing(left to right) Empawi,Hj Nasir Zainal,Unknown,Coni,myself,Ungik,Gao,Auzar.
Sitting, Umpoh,Liza Man,Simon Jawah,Edward Billy and Rossi.
Below are Durai,Zulhairry and the crew from the other machine, C3 FR7.
Irwan and his crew of 3MCL compressor.
A drink of tuak(rice wine) to forget about this bad episode
with Lunsa and Albert as Hj Nasir watches with a smile,
this will be his last job here before retirement.
Durai and Abiu by the Frog Stone(Batu Katak) at km77 Bintulu Sibu road
on the way to Mukah on a day trip before heading home.
At Batang Mukah's suspension bridge.
Pondering and probably thinking whether he should visit the dentist below
for his denture.
At Lamin Dana Melanau's homestay at Kampung Tellian.
Checking on a Tibow at Kg Tellian.
A shot by the Jerunei,Melanau's Burial Pole.
With a giant mangrove tree at Taman Tanjung Pedada.
thomas..kalau kat Kelantan,tuak diambil dari pokok kelapa(nira kelapa)...muslim boleh minum :)
ReplyDeleteKamsiah,
ReplyDeleteNira tu fresh dari mayang kelapa,
tuak ni memang mcm tapai yg you buat, pulut yg dah dimasak campur dgn ragi tapi ditinggalkan dlm tempayan selama 2 minggu,
lepas itu ditambah air gula dan dibiar 6 minggu sebelum menjadi tuak
yg kandungan alkoholnya antara 5~10%.
kerja dkt mlng bintulu?
ReplyDeleteo0pEt,
Deleteyah,on and off.
kerjaya yg mencabar ni bro :)
ReplyDeletehi Thomas,
ReplyDeletesorry about the not so good experience..the ups and downs in any lines of work..but hope that the happy memories whilst working on this project, the friendship etc will linger on more than the closure.

ReplyDeleteWah, Mr. Thomas dari Remaco eh? Need to bookmark your blog now :). I also had bad experience during Module 4 CI back in June/July.
ReplyDeleteHafezzul,
DeleteBesides mental and physical preparation,
we also need to have right tools,a good work schedule and knowledgeable crew
or else it will be like most of the recent shutdowns,a bad experience.
