Taman Seroja,a very quiet and peaceful housing area in the small township of Salak Tinggi
have recently being brought into the limelight for a different reason,
the demolition of a house altar in the compound of an Indian house.
An altar of that size might not have been a problem in a mixed housing area
for eg Taman Sentosa in Klang
but for this place which i would say with almost 99% muslim population,
it would come as a cultural shock to its neighborhood.
Other Hindu gods can have altars placed inside the house and usually go unnoticed
but not that of the Lord Muneswaran
which i fondly call 'Uncle on the Horse' with due respect,
which have to be placed outside of the house
and that's where the problem starts,
i personally will give it an ok if the altar is half the size
as a respect to the neighbours or what we call religious tolerance
and if the neigbourhood can take it,
life will go on peacefully like usual in quiet Taman Seroja
instead of a standoff right now.
Workers repairing the damaged altar.
