Scene by the Mekong Riverside

For a visit to Laos to be complete,
one have to drop by the mighty Mekong River
to get the feel of how big it's,
a 4,350km long river which flows through 6 countries.
I was there by the river at Luang Prabang
a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

a crude all purpose ferry taking passenger and light vehicle across to Parbeng.

I saw some glittering ore by the riverside,
it seems to look like gold?

head scratching talk by the riverside.

Boatman chatting while having a break.

Most of these taxi boat uses a water pump engine.

a formation of taxi boats.

these bigger boats are used for longer distance travel up and down river.

this man is hard at work decorating his lantern fish for release onto the river at night
for the Awk Phansaa Festival.

Crates of empty bottles of Lao beer.

A nice place to dine while watching sunset.

A sunset to remember.

  3. I was here too in April. Love the nostalgic ride down the river, also across the intercept of between the three countries.
