Shellfish catcher of Pantai Remis

The shellfish catcher skips
along the muddy beaches of Pantai Remis and Jeram
like a mudskipper looking for a variety of small shellfish
like cockles and clams during the low tide.

Cockles like this but of smaller size

Amazing rocks of Linsuk Beach

Revisiting this beautiful secluded beach by a Bajau village
with our shutdown crew
reminds me of some unfinished business,
a forgotten post with photos taken in  December 2011
and recent ones.

a mystical crocodile rock by the beach

A Scooby Doo looka like rock

A turtle and a sea gull side by side

Two legendary rocks of the neighboring Sawangan Beach,
both with their own folklore stories.
The 'Batu Payau' or Deer Rock
a deer which was said to have turned into  rock together with the hunting dogs
chasing it
and 'Batu Si Tanggang' is about an ungrateful son who went off in search of work
and became a rich one who returned one day with his ship but refused to recognised his mother
and was turned into a rock together with his ship
when cursed by his mother. The ship like rock with another rock ontop
which looks like a  someone kneeling, begging for forgiveness.

Back to the 60ies~In search of the lost city

A nice writeup on the Legendary Tasik Chini
which i found in my Kuantan's ST Thomas School magazine of 1964
when the place was still in its pristine form,
with only the lakes, jungle and aborigines from the Jakun tribe.

Nicely written by the late Soon Ah Kam, a student and scout from the 4th Kuantan troop,St Thomas School.

A similar type of floating hut  lays abandoned (photo taken 2 years back)

In their search for iron ore, even the scared mountain around Tasik Chini was not spared.

The scared lotus flowers of Tasik Chini have slowly being replaced by the 'ekor kucing' (Cabomba Furcata)

The beautiful jetty of Tasik Chini,
let us hope and pray that the beautiful place
can survive the test and the impact of development
coming up around it
and be there for the future generations
to cherish.

A short visit to Tawau Hills Park

Our short visit to the Tawau Hills Park,
not far away from the Sabah's east coast town of Tawau.
A park almost surrounded by palm oil plantation
which is an overdone thing, very soon we in the whole of Malaysia
will be regretting our actions for destroying these virgin jungles
here and at every corner of the country, losing our water catchment area,
biodiversity and wildlife plus creating a host of social problem
from the few million foreign workers to work in it.

Our favourite shutdown crew Jemat taking a rest.

Our Iban friends,Peter,Andrew,Jefferyand Jemat, definitely felt at home in the park looking at their faces.

A group photo by the former record holder.

At 88.32 meters, the secong tallest tropical tree in the world(2017).

Table waterfalls at the entrance of the park.
