The Pacific Star

Just found a gift from a friend 40 years ago
which have gone missing for almost 10 years.
The Pacific Star is a military campaign medal instituted by the United Kingdom in May 1945 for award to British and Commonwealth forces who served in the Pacific Campaign from 1941 to 1945, during the Second World War.

 

pardon my ignorance for not asking the details of how he got the medal as
i only know he was a soldier before but it's too late now.

Pentagon shaped Pillbox of Tanjung Punai

The strategically located British WW2 Pillbox
near Tanjung Punai at the confluence of Kuantan and Belat river
was left frozen in time for the past 77 years
and known only to anglers and villager staying nearby
but eluded history enthusiast
until a local posted in a facebook page.

 

before and after a small cleanup of fern and a fallen mangrove tree,
hope to  remove those on the roof in my next visit.











The 17th British WW2 Pillbox in Kuantan photographed so far,
build for the swampy area which will be flooded at high tide
with a four steps stairway down into the pillbox after climbing up
the ~1.5 meter wall.

Turtle Rock of Rantau Abang

The Legendary Turtle Rock of  Rantau Abang
 is situated on top of a small hill
 about 2.5 km off the Dungun to Kuala Terengganu main road.



It looks very much like one when view from this side.
