A visit to the newly restored tunnels of the Sungai Lembing Underground Tin Mines,
an 8 million ringgit project by the state government,
which i saw was worth the money spend
as it will be putting an attraction that locals have been yearning for all this while.
The journey starts with a 60 meters mini battery operated train ride
which sits about 15 person with a guide
who will bring you on a 45 minutes walk into the time tunnel back
to the golden years of Sungai Lembing.
I hope the Kuantan Municipal Council
will keep the facilities there in tip top condition
as it will be a new must see for visitors to Sg Lembing,
a few suggestion is to maintain
or reduce the present price of ticket of Rm15(with a 50% discount)
for locals instead of the published Rm30,
also to do away with the extra charge for foreigner
(a trend only in Asia)
and to employ ex-miners who are still healthy
as a part time guide during weekends.
Mr Tinman is waiting.
It's best to maintain the discount to attract more visitors to the place
which will generate lots of other economic activities.
Wellington boots waiting but i feel a safety helmet or bump cap will be sufficient.
The tunnel before and after the restoration.
An air vent tunnel.
The million dollar hole where ex- miners made a fortune after the closure in 1986.
A fuzzy miscued shot seems to show the miners working.
One of the LCD showing a video.
An original untouched tunnel.
A display on the benefit of using pulleys.
A small cable car ride to the Kiew(Lift),as the miners called their lift.
The kiew(lift) simulator.
Strictly no entry here.
The exit tunnel.
A nice cave view.
A working Railway handcar for a ride,
i think it's the only one in Malaysia.
This looks like a silo or chimney in a sealed off dangerous section.
A very dangerous opening which is supposed to be grilled.
The 20 to 30 meters hole down.

Thanks for the info..the place looks interesting..may be one day I could go there. :-)
my son yg dok UMP tu ada bercerita pasal terowong ni...saya katakan, saya takut utk masuk ketempat2 mcm tu hehe..
Looks like a great adventure to go on, but I hear the ticket price for foreigners is much more expensive than for locals. That puts me off, and I've always wondered why that is the case?
Duncan In Kuantan
Kamsiah,
Baik pergi utk menghilangkan phobia, tempat tu selamat.
Duncan,
This double pricing is typical in poorer Asian country which always thought a foreigner is rich,is Malaysia that poor?
I think you can't find this in Europe,Japan,Korea.
menarik tempat ni..bayaran masuk mahal jugak ye
Cikgu Bada,
Mungkin sebab ada pengiring dan hampir 45 minit perjalanan.
interesting.. nak try pergi juge la. :)
This is like referring back to history yet preserved and kept. I love to visit similar places and its like the effort to keep what was years ago.
look interesting..must try to visit there soon :)
The miscued shot looks interesting, there's a sense of movement.
BTW the fee for foreign visitors is too high, it's absurd to say the least.
no update?
:)
