Jetty of Sawangan Beach

The 335 meters long jetty of Sawangan beach,
overlooking the Survivor island of Pulau Tiga,
one of the longest that i have been to in the country
is not far from the Kuala Penyu town and
it's mostly used by anglers for fishing all day long.

Part of the place is in need of some maintence,
some of the pillars are missing  and roof almost blown away.

Some weird sky shots at the beach.

Clouds over Pulau Tiga.

 An anchor in the sky.

Shots taken at dawn before the sunrise.

The Sawangan Beach Lodge
where Uncle Ejon and aunty Vicky will warmly welcome you.

The chalets.

Mel,the Chalet i stayed overnight,
with attap roofing.
I wonder what Mel stands for?

A beautiful art work by Aunty Vicky depicting Sawangan Beach with Pulau Tiga in front
done in 2007 before the jetty is build.

another piece made by sea shells.

  1. Wow that thing is vwery long! LOL
I'm scared of deep ocean so the imagination of me being at the end of the jetty kinda gives me a little eerie feeling. :-S

BTW, the place looks quite quiet. Is that normal?

  2. Beautiful sky and yeah, that's a long jetty you have there.

Did you visit Pulau Tiga (Survivor Island), to sample the Mud Volcano during your trip, too?

We didn't stop by this place during out Pulau Tiga trip.

  4. Rad,
The waters there is quite shallow, that's why the length of the jetty,it's quite deserted except weekends.
    de engineur,
I would love to dropped by Pulau Tiga but since i am never sure when i will be free,it's quite difficult for me to do any booking knowing the difficulties to get to the island.
    Aida,
kabus itu air sebab shutter camera to buka lama(~15 saat)

  8. I had almost misread the 8 km as the length of the jetty. o.O

  9. Rad,
The place is sparsely populated,<100 per sq km a sharp contrast compared to your place in Java island.
    orang muo,
guna fill in flash dan spot metering pada objek kalau dekat.
    JIPP,
at 8km we are almost there in Survivor Island,Pulau Tiga,he!he!

  27. Thanks, Thomas. You take very nice pictures! It was a pleasure having you stay with us. The chalets are named after our children - Melvin and Melissa :) The bungalow is simply 'kampung house' for obvious reasons! All the best from me and uncle Ejon.

  28. Is the beach there good for swimming and snorkeling - or is it dangerous (strong currents, poison animals...)?

    1. framichele,
it's ok for swimming activities but this place is very quiet,
only have some visitors during the weekend.

    2. Thank you for the good information - it seems, that is the best place for me - because I prefer a quiet location for private retreat with walking along the beach and look to the nice creation below the sea... I don't want to be on a place with crowds of tourists.
