Klang - revisiting the hazy days of 2005

Klang folks paid a revisit to the hazy day of 10 August 2005
with an API almost touching the 500 level on the 25th of June.
It seems that we humans are very forgetful and always take things for granted
and expect to have clean air and water even without preserving and protecting our natural environment.
At the rate that we are clearing our forests for plantation
to satisfy our lust for planting more palm oil
to make more millions to fill our bank accounts
we might one day have no more clean source of water for drinking
and hazy days all year long.

 



I-City seems lost in the haze.











This is how it was on 10th of August 2005 with an API of 500.







And the situation 10 days later(20th August 2005) with the haze gone.

Tanjung Tokong Search Light Battery

The Search Light Battery of Tanjung Tokong 
build by the British to defend Penang during the World War 2
might look real obsolete today
but that's the best option available then
at the time when radar was yet to be perfected.

    
The first search light is right at the edge of the cape,
only time can tell how much longer it can stand up there.

Remnants of the old Bukit Besi mines

Concrete remnants of the old iron ore mines of Bukit Besi
lays preserved till today awaiting interested visitors
who loves to discover for themselves the glorious past
of this once very rich
and advance area of Terrengganu
during its heydays.





These laterite rocks are very rich with iron oxide.
















The stock pile building after which the ore
are transported by rail to Kuala Dungun.
An old locomotive from this era
can be  found at the Terrengganu Museum.
A train tunnel at Buki Tebuk and some pillars
of the Jetty at Sura is still around today..












Tin plant washing area which looks like a ruin of an ancient civilization.

Scene by the Mekong Riverside

For a visit to Laos to be complete,
one have to drop by the mighty Mekong River
to get the feel of how big it's,
a 4,350km long river which flows through 6 countries.
I was there by the river at Luang Prabang
a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
